Special Topic Introduction

Advanced robotic systems increasingly operate in complex and uncertain environments, where underactuation, strong nonlinear dynamics, and model uncertainties pose significant challenges to control and estimation. In many emerging applications, conventional feedback linearization techniques are difficult or impossible to apply, motivating the development of advanced nonlinear control methodologies.

 

This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in intelligent nonlinear control, nonlinear estimation, and nonlinear identification for advanced robotic systems. Particular emphasis is placed on underactuated systems, nonlinear dynamics and stability analysis, cooperative autonomy, and energy-efficient operation. Applications of interest include payload-carrying UAVs, robotic cranes, unmanned vehicles, multi-robot systems, space robotics, humanoid robots, exoskeletons, and other complex robotic platforms.

 

We welcome original contributions that advance the theory and practice of nonlinear control for next-generation robotic systems.
