Topic: Emerging Environmental Pollutants: Exposure Assessment and Carcinogenic Risk

The widespread use of chemical substances leads to continuous human exposure to emerging environmental pollutants through diverse pathways, including inhalation, ingestion, and dermal contact. Accumulating evidence indicates that certain emerging pollutants can induce oxidative stress, trigger inflammation, and disrupt cellular signaling pathways - mechanisms that may contribute to carcinogenesis. Despite these insights, the carcinogenic risks posed by many emerging environmental pollutants remain incompletely understood. This critical knowledge gap impedes effective risk management, hinders the formulation of evidence-based regulations, and complicates transparent risk communication with the public and other stakeholders.

This Special Issue, entitled "Emerging Environmental Pollutants: Exposure Assessment and Carcinogenic Risk", aims to advance the identification, quantification, and characterization of cancer risks associated with emerging environmental pollutants across diverse populations and environmental settings.

Potential topics include:

● Novel analytical methods and biomonitoring strategies for detecting emerging environmental pollutants in human and environmental matrices;

● Multimedia exposure assessment approaches and bioaccumulation models for carcinogenic emerging environmental pollutants;

● Epidemiological and toxicological studies examining associations between exposure toemerging environmental pollutants and cancer-related endpoints;

● Mechanistic insights into the carcinogenic pathways of emerging environmental pollutants.
