Special Topic Introduction

Robotic-assisted surgery has increasingly become a key approach in the management of gynecological malignancies, offering enhanced precision, reduced invasiveness, and improved postoperative recovery compared to conventional techniques. This Special Issue aims to bring together original research, clinical studies, and reviews that explore the current applications, outcomes, and future directions of robotic surgery in gynecological oncology, including its role in the treatment of cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. We welcome contributions addressing surgical technique innovations, comparative outcome studies, learning curve analyses, and perspectives on the evolving role of robotics in this field.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

● Robotic radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer: technique, oncologic safety, and long-term outcomes;

● Robotic staging in endometrial cancer: sentinel lymph node mapping and lymphadenectomy;

● Robotic cytoreductive surgery in ovarian cancer;

● Robotic vs. laparoscopic vs. open surgery: comparative outcomes in gynecologic oncology;

● Learning curves and training pathways in robotic gynecologic oncology;

● Technical innovations and advances in robotic platforms and instrumentation;

● Perioperative outcomes, complications, and recovery metrics;

● Cost-effectiveness and healthcare resource utilization;

● Patient selection and preoperative risk stratification for robotic approaches;

● Robotic surgery in special populations (obesity, elderly, fertility-sparing procedures);

● Imaging, navigation, and fluorescence-guided surgery (e.g., ICG) integrated with robotics;

● Multidisciplinary perioperative care and ERAS protocols;

● Emerging technologies: single-port robotics and AI-assisted surgery.

Keywords
